ABLOY provides leading solutions for the efficient and safe use of buildings by means of electronic security control systems, access control and working time tracking systems as well as door environment solutions. In the Virpa project, our mission is to enable more efficient utilisation of spaces.

Abloy’s access control and working time tracking system and the ABLOY OS operating system are used by more than 500 customers in organisations of different sizes. Our customers want solutions that utilise data from a property’s users by streamlining operations: improving space utilisation, allowing more flexible use of facilities without compromising security, and ensuring personal security in exceptional circumstances.

It makes sense to share data with other stakeholders in order to facilitate the innovation of functional solutions; data provided by Abloy to others and, equally, data provided by others to Abloy’s systems can lead to solutions that one system alone could not produce. The shared utilisation of data can also provide the customer with a solution that is more cost-effective than separate solutions would be. We can also offer platforms for new business models that would not be possible without a holistic understanding of the circumstances or history or the management of the entire property complex.

Solutions of this kind have been tested on a small scale around the world, but high-volume business models that are the most sustainable in terms of commercial viability and customer value are only just beginning to emerge. This is why our focus in the Virpa project is to explore the most functional integration opportunities for our data platform in the systems of various real-estate partners, while mapping out the most viable new business partnership opportunities when it comes to offering customer value.

Abloy Oy is part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, the world’s largest provider of door environment solutions. The company offers its customers safe and easy-to-use door opening and closing solutions, access control, human recognition, door automation and hotel security. The Group has 47,000 employees and a turnover of EUR 7.5 billion.
