Virtual building service technology and user interfaces

The Virpa A project has focused on the development of building service technology and its integration into a single service environment that can be managed online through cloud computing.

The aim is to get the building data fully utilised, to integrate different systems and adapt them to changing circumstances and needs.

Why do we need one service environment?

Stricter building and energy requirements have necessitated changes in construction methods, energy efficiency and energy supply.

However, the interfaces and connections of building service devices are too limited to be integrated into a well-functioning whole. New solutions are needed that take into account the compatibility of building service technology as well as the controllability and efficiency of devices.

Using a variety of energy sources

One key component of the project has been cloud-based energy management: buildings will increasingly utilise different energy sources and combinations thereof, i.e. hybrid technology.

The virtual service environment will benefit both builders and a building’s end-users in the form of new service solutions and business models. Residents will save money through energy efficiency, for example.
